Which describes you best?
You are a successful professional or business owner who wants to increase your wealth while protecting your assets.
Or you are pre-retiree looking to fund your dream retirement or have already retired and concerned about managing your family wealth and ensuring your loved ones will be looked after in the event of your not being able to do so in the future.
You have a life and are time poor. You “get” the value of dealing with a professional and are willing to delegate management of your finances to a trusted advisor.
You want independent, ethical advice not aligned with a large institution or product provider.
I deliberately work with only a select number of clients so I can give you the attention you expect. Our goal is to provide you with the highest level of tailored service. To add far more value than you pay for with our fixed fees.
Our clients come to us for peace of mind
“After the sudden death of my husband, I felt very vulnerable and I knew I needed a financial advisor that I can trust implicitly. When I saw Claire Mackay interviewed on the ABC 7.30 program one night, I felt that she was someone I could work with. I connected with her and I am glad I did. Not only is Claire very personable, she’s a lovely person and easy to talk to. On a professional level, she’s got a great deal of credentials. She’s an accountant, a financial planner and has a law degree too.”
Trusted by peers and regulatory authorities
I developed my investing skills at Macquarie Bank and PwC . I was recognised as Financial Planner of the Year 2015 by Money Management; Investment Advisor of the Year 2014 and Excellence in Financial Advice 2014 by Independent Financial Advisor.
I am regularly asked my views on ABC TV and in the AFR. In 2015 I joined David Koch onscreen to discuss the Federal Budget. Alan Kohler wrote of me “One of my favourite financial planners, Claire Mackay of Quantum Financial in Sydney”.
I sit on ASIC’s External Advisory Panel with Peter Costello, David Gonski, Catherine Livingston and others. I am a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Advisor and Self Managed Super Fund expert. I hold Degrees in Commerce and Law and a Master’s Degree in Law.
But all work and no play would make me a dull Financial Planner. When not managing your money, I love adventures including climbing Machu Picchu, backpacking Africa & India; walking the Kokoda Track, and the Palm Beach to Whale Beach Big Swim.

I work with pre-retirees and retirees looking to fund their dream retirement.
Senior professionals and successful business owners who have concerns managing their family’s wealth seek financial peace of mind. They want certainty that they are making informed financial decisions.
A number of successful professionals and business owners who seek my services are unhappy with the level of service they are receiving from their current advisor. They feel that their adviser is not acting in their best interests and have lost confidence in them.
Clients seek independent and ethical advice, not advice that is aligned with any product provider. Many of my clients approaching retirement typically either have an SMSF or aspire to have one.
I work with my clients to take away their concerns over their investment decisions, asset allocation, reducing taxes, and ensuring they will have enough to support their dream lifestyle through retirement.
Our clients trust us to do the right thing by them.
“I used to subscribe to all sorts of newspapers, financial reports etc., just to make sure that my financial advisor was kept on the straight and narrow. I don’t have to do this anymore. An enormous burden has been lifted off my shoulders.”
In our first meeting we determine whether we can provide value. If not, we will honestly tell you so.
We devise a plan and establish the right structures in place to ensure that should something happen to them, their family’s wealth is distributed the way they want.
Adele Ferguson wrote of me “With so many conflicted planners operating in this country it is important to have a voice that stands out for those planners who have embraced a model that promotes their clients’ interests.”
Family owned, Quantum Financial is the most awarded financial planning practice in Australia. I am co-principal in the business with two of Australia’s best financial planners – my sister Claire Mackay and my father Bill Mackay.
I developed my investing skills at Deutsche Bank and UBS in London and New York. I was awarded SMSF Adviser of the Year 2014 by Independent Financial Adviser and the national SMSF Best Practice Award 2014. In 2012 I was awarded the Excellence in Business Ethics award by the NSW Business Chamber. I am regularly asked my views on ABC TV and in the AFR.
Visit our website for views on Quantum Financial’s approach to financial planning and SMSF advice from ABC TVs & Eureka Report’s Alan Kohler, Fairfax’s Adele Ferguson and other respected finance experts.

What do you get when you combine a marathon runner, a foodie and a financial whiz? The answer is Robbie Reid, someone who has seamlessly bridged left and right brain capabilities. While most of us have one or the other, Robbie has been blessed with high level academic and technical intelligence as well as creativity and empathy that connects and communicates effortlessly with clients.
Robbie understands that regardless of stage of life, his clients have aspirations and goals that often need a coach and mentor to bring to fruition.
Offering young professionals a financial planning service, he guides younger people to set goals and adopt sound cash flow planning and wealth accumulation habits early in their working life. He helps those in the middle stages with children and mortgages to plan and implement strategies that attend to immediate needs of debt and expenditure management, while considering the values and goals that drive future-needs to explore options and discovering wealth. For those on the eve of retirement or already retired, Robbie proactively represents their interests, highlighting opportunities and any impacts of changes upon their financial affairs and the everyday freedoms their financial plan was designed to deliver. His approach is logical, open minded and always big picture.
While researching, planning and providing a tailored financial strategy are among his technical skillset, it is close listening, understanding and interpretation of needs where Robbie excels to define personal goals and financial planning objectives aimed at helping his clients achieve their personal vision.
Education and knowledge are his cornerstones and Robbie has been rewarded with many academic awards among them recognition for top achievements for various subjects at university.
These days, Robbie who spent three years working in a commercial kitchen, continues to put his culinary skills to good use but only for family and friends, preferring to sink his teeth into analysing complex financial matters or studying for his Masters of Economics.
Quietly spoken and modest, he’ll tell you there is “nothing too exciting” about himself, except of course that he studies, cooks, runs marathons and has a dream of one day combining his love of travel with the latter by competing in the Boston and London marathons! It is this unassuming and completely honourable nature that is winning fans among his growing client base.
Clearly Robbie enjoys sports. He follows the Waratahs, considers himself an amateur cricketer – an all-rounder – and spends plenty of early hours training for marathons. He’s an avid reader of both professional development material and fiction. He loves to learn and it is this ongoing drive to continually feed his intellect that has caused him to seek out a career that has a requirement for ongoing learning in both technical and personal skills. It seems he’s found his calling as these are the fundamental qualities for the role of financial planner.

Fergus is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner and has been providing advice for over eight years to clients and helping them to understand their financial plans and achieve their objectives. Fergus completed his degree in business at the University of Queensland and the Diploma of Financial Planning and Certified Financial Planner through Deakin University. Fergus loves the idea of helping people determine what their goals are, and then helping them to achieve them. He enjoys the ongoing relationship with clients, and most importantly the trust that is given by his clients. In 2007, Fergus was admitted to the Australian Financial Review MASTERCLASS FOR FINANCIAL PLANNING [TOP 50 Honour Roll].
Fergus is a father of three wonderful children, of whom he is very proud. He loves good food, watching rugby with his daughter, and watching his children dancing and playing soccer.
“I am happy to recommend Fergus & Margaret as financial advisers for life insurance planning and financial advice in general. It was very important to my husband and me to find trustworthy, well informed, hardworking advisers, and who most importantly, are truly independent. That description certainly fits Fergus & Margaret. Too many financial advisers are not independent and unfortunately are little more than salesmen pushing products which suit them in terms of the commission which is generated for them. As a solicitor, I know how important it is to retain a professional adviser who I can be assured works in my family’s interest alone, without he or she being influenced by personal considerations. Fergus & Margaret’s friendly, personal service since we became their clients in early 2009 has been excellent.” Samantha & Marcus Peterson Pyrmont
